I have thought a lot about how you and I are still so far away from truly knowing each other. But I mostly have thought about how despite the amount of knowledge I know about someone, there is always something. Something that strikes me as beautiful about every human being. Something nice to be said to every human being. Something important to tell every human being. We live in a world where people suffer everyday, but there are too many little pockets of beautiful illumination that are forgotten about or never noticed. Let this statement be a challenge to both of us. You and I, both, standing up for humanity and the beauty we see in this world. There is no formula to this. All we have to do is slow down, step back, and open our eyes. And one day, it will all just come together. You’ll be walking down the street and see a mother and her child holding hands as they walk by and despite the fact that she is rushing to the bus stop and her child is crying, you will smile at her in hopes that maybe this will give her a chance to remember that others care. You’ll be walking in the park and you’ll look up to the sky and you’ll have to stop for a moment just to take in another breath. And when you exhale, your heavy boots will get a little lighter, you’ll see that the world is spinning for you. There will be an exquisite moment in your life when you look at yourself in the mirror and realize what a truly beautiful human being you are. You will discover how many beautiful pieces of your heart you can give. And you will smile at yourself, just because you exist.
